The Frightening sounds of
cracking walls, breaking glass,
and exploding pipes awakened many residents of
Laguna Hills, California. A
landslide destroyed 17 multimillion-dollar homes
when it struck the posh
community overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and
damaged 11 others. Luckily, no one
was killed, though several people were slightly
injured.
When the ground started
moving, residents ran into the
streets in their pajamas. 14 year-old Haley
Stevens was getting ready for
school when the sound of trees being uprooted
and houses being torn from their
foundations shattered her family's routine. As
Stevens and her family ran out
of the home, the ground was collapsing beneath
them. She said, "We started
to feel the street move and we just started
sprinting. She added, "We were
very scared, my brother and I. We were freaking
out"
Geologists believe the
landslides were a result of record
rainfall earlier in the year. Scientists had
warned residents that landslides
were possible. Many say the Laguna Beach slide
was a wakeup call for other
coastal communities to be on the lookout for any
earth movement. Geologist
Randall Jibson said, "We're not out of the woods
yet."

Matthew 7:24-27 (HCSB)
"'Therefore, everyone who hears
these words of Mine and acts on them will be
like a sensible man who built his
house on the rock. [25] The rain fell, the
rivers rose, and the winds blew and
pounded that house. Yet it didn't collapse,
because its foundation was on the
rock. [26] But everyone who hears these words of
Mine and doesn't act on them
will be like a foolish man who built his house
on the sand. [27] The rain fell,
the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that
house, and it collapsed. And
its collapse was great!'"
WORD OF GOD
Gavin
Ashenden, a former priest, professor, and
chaplain to the Queen, claims that feminism
rather than the New Testament has
formed the mind-set of most within the Church
of England. He believes that it
is time for Christians to make a commitment to
the New Testament, or succumb to
the spirit of the age.
Ashenden
challenges the church
saying “A Christianity that feels free to
overrule Scripture is no longer
Christianity. It’s hard to know what to call
it. But whatever you label the
Anglicanism that is now the Church of England,
it is no longer orthodox
Christianity.
All
who claim to be Christian
need to understand this challenge. It is the
responsibility of the Biblical
Believer to stick to the authority of the Word
of God. —Jim L. Wilson and
