TRUST IN GOD

Many Christian groups are outraged over what the The United States Mint calls a mistake. The Mint released more than 300 million gold colored George Washington coins recently. The Mint soon discovered many of them are missing the inscription, "In God We Trust," and "E Pluribus Unum," as well as the date and mint mark which were supposed to appear on the edge of the coin. Christian groups contend the coin was a deliberate attempt to remove the national motto from coinage.

The Mint denies the allegations, and issued a statement saying, “The United States Mint understands the importance of the inscription 'In God We Trust' and 'E Pluribus Unum' as well as the mint mark and year on U.S. coinage." The Mint insisted quality control was a high priority and they were trying to determine the source of the problem in the manufacturing process. Most of the problem coins were produced at the Philadelphia Mint. Though no one knows how many coins were produced with the error, the "Godless Dollars" are drawing the interest of collectors. The new coins are selling for around $50.

Job 1:20-21 (HCSB) "Then Job stood up, tore his robe and shaved his head. He fell to the ground and worshiped, [21] saying: Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will leave this life. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Praise the name of the Lord."

TRUST IN GOD

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Psalm 33:12a (NASB95).

Obama promised “change you can believe in” during his campaign and he is certainly offering plenty of change.  One of the changes he made during the first few months of his administration was to remove the Bible quotes at the top of his daily briefings.

While Bible quotes on briefings is no guarantee of biblical blessing, the nation that remembers its Godly heritage is blessed. Christians should work to see that the hearts of our nation, not just our lips, are turned to the Lord. We shouldn’t be afraid to name the Lord our God as our Lord.

Psalm 91:2 (NKJV) I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."
