THE DEVIL

Residents of a German town had a scare when they discovered a mysterious crate marked “Wild Animals” blasting out lion’s roars in the center of town. A spokesman for the police department in the southwestern German city said, “The crate was right in the town center and people thought there were real lions inside. A lot of people were really scared.”

A complaint from two residents about animals being locked in a crate prompted police to investigate. They carefully opened the crate. There were no wild animals inside; instead they discovered a video machine playing a promotional video for Land Rover Vehicles intercut with shots of roaring lions.

A spokeswoman for Land Rover said the company had been using the promotional tool for several months. She said that it had been successful up to this point. She said, “We generally only had positive feedback on it so far. We’ve never had this kind of response before.”

In this case, the Lion’s roar was only a clever promotional stunt; but usually the Lion’s roar warns people of danger. A wise person will be on the watch for the roaring lion.1 Peter 5:8NIV “ Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
