RELEVANCE/COMMITMENT
Research conducted by the Evangelical Alliance Ireland has
found that many new churches have sprung up in the Dublin area over the past 25
years. The research found 130 churches operating in the area. Only 37% of them
existed in 1980, and 25% of those churches started within the past ten years.
The national director of EAI says the growth is due to the
relevance of the message the churches are proclaiming. He said, "We are
committed to communicating a perspective on life that is viable and effective,
and which can be applied to the complex issues facing Irish society
today." He also said, "Evangelism is the idea of a radical
commitment, of a lifestyle based on Jesus' message that it's still possible to
live that way." He added, "We get back to the message of Jesus,
that's the power of it."
Helena Doran, a member of one church where the attendance
has grown to over 200 since it was founded 15 years ago, said her faith is
about having a personal relationship with Jesus. Doran said, "Every
decision I make, everything I do, I try to apply His principles to
everything."

Acts 4:11-12 (MSG) "Jesus is 'the stone you masons
threw out, which is now the cornerstone.' [12] Salvation comes no other way; no
other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only this
one."
