Mary Dhume of Ohio claims a
mysterious phone call actually saved her life.
The Summerford Ohio woman was
watching television in her living room on a
Monday night when the phone in the next room
rang. She got up to answer it, but there was no
one at the other end of the line.
At that moment, Dhume heard
breaking glass and saw her living room wall
collapse onto the chair where she had been
sitting. A pickup truck missed the curve on the
road in front of Dhume's house and smashed into
the living room wall.
Since she was already by the
phone, Dhume quickly called 911 when she saw the
driver back up and drive away.
A few hours later, Ohio
Highway patrol troopers arrested a 41-year-old
man on a charge of failing to control a vehicle
and running into Dhume's home.
When asked about the odd
timing of the phone call that saved her life,
Dhume replied, "The phone ringing at that
particular time? That's one of those things
people would never believe. Maybe it was God
calling to tell me to get out of my living
room."

John Dees was in the
passenger seat of a Piper Comanche as the plane
prepared to land in Clearwater, Florida Saturday
January 17, 2004. Dees says one minute it was
clear skies, and the next he saw another
aircraft coming onto them at a 45 degree angle.
Dees said at 120 mph, looking for other aircraft
is like "looking for a gnat." One thousand feet
in the air the two planes bumped very hard.
The pilot of the plane Dees
was riding in is a certified airline transport
pilot and licensed flight instructor. He
momentarily lost control of the aircraft, and
later admitted he thought they were going to
crash. Suddenly the pilot regained control, and
was able to safely land the plane at
Clearwater's airport. The pilot of the other
plane was killed when it crashed near a
playground after the collision.
Dees told members of his
church the next day that he believed God had
given him a miracle. Dees said, "It's just by
the grace of God. I was praying out loud. You
could have probably heard me if you were
listening yesterday at 2:24." Dees said the
pilot told him that he knew the prayers got them
down safely.
Dees admitted he was sad
about the crash and did not sleep the night
after the incident. He said, "It gives me peace
to know God's got more work for me to do. God
has a plan."
Investigators will analyze
the evidence to determine how the collision
occurred. They say everyone was doing what they
were supposed to do and apparently their paths
just crossed at the wrong time.

Psalm 40:3, 5. NIV "He put a
new song in my mouth a hymn of praise to our
God. Many will see and fear and put their trust
in the Lord…. Many, O Lord my God are the
wonders you have done. The things you planned
for us no one can recount to you, were I to
speak and tell of them, they would be too many
to declare."

About an hour and a half
after the last worshippers left the Zion Hill
Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Sunday December
5th, the walls of the church collapsed and the
roof dropped onto the pews and pulpit. The
Pastor, Carl McMullen and his family were the
last to leave that afternoon. An hour and a half
later, they received a call about the building's
demise.
Some Sundays the church holds
afternoon services and lunch, but fortunately
not this Sunday. The Pastor's wife Debra
McMullen said, "Lord have mercy—can you believe
it? It's just a blessing that no one was
inside."
Several members noticed that
that some ceiling tiles had fallen, and
discussed calling the city's building and
inspections department the following Monday.
After the collapse, the city's Fire Chief Anson
Turley said he did not see steel reinforcements
in the building's cinderblock walls. Jerry
Givens, a member of the church for 30 years,
said, "God must be telling us it’s time to move.
And that's what we'll do."

GOD’S PROTECTION
An upscale bakery in
Split, Croatia had a problem with break-ins
until they put one of Hollywood’s leading tough
guys to work. As a joke, employees of the bakery
put a life size poster of Chuck Norris in the
window along with a sign reading, “The shop is
under the protection of Chuck Norris.”
When the sign went up, the break-ins
stopped.
Sales Associate Mirna Kovac
says the idea worked better than anyone thought.
She says everyone in town is familiar with
Norris’ movies; even the thieves seem to respect
him and have left the shop alone. Kovac says
since the sign went up, several people have
stopped in to ask for the actor’s autograph. She
adds, “They really believe he is hiding in our
storeroom out the back ready to pounce on any
burglars.”

A library in Nova Scotia said a book checked out
in 1939 was
returned 82 years overdue after a homeowner found
it hidden away in his attic.
The homeowner was renovating his home and found
the copy of The Adventures of
Doctor Doolittle by Hugh Lofting. Library
officials said they were intrigued
because the book had a library card inside from
1939, and was dated the same
week, the library abolished fines for overdue
books.They
also said the fact that the book was
hidden in an attic protected it.The
original library in the area burned in 1959, and
most of the books it held were
destroyed. If the book had been returned on time,
it would likely have been
destroyed.Library
officials said they
calculated the late fee would be around $3,000 if
fines were still in effect.
