Two Jewish men recently tried
to climb the Western Wall in Jerusalem,
Judaism’s holiest site, because they believed a
water stain on the wall signaled the coming of
the Messiah. The stain was discovered by
worshippers who came to pray at the base of the
Western Wall, also known as the “Wailing
Wall.”
Some ultra-Orthodox Jews
believe the water stain is a sign the wall is
crying, which means the Messiah is on His way.
The Wall is the retaining wall of the compound
of the Temple Mount, which marks of the site of
two ancient Biblical temples. (The Western wall
is a remnant of the Second Temple, destroyed by
the Romans in 70 AD.)
The chief Rabbi of the
Western Wall, Shmuel Rabinovich, says the men
who tried to climb the wall were escorted away
by police. Rabbi Rabinovich says he is
investigating the stain, in case it is the
result of a leak of some kind. He says he and
the Israel Antiquities Authority are watching to
see if the 10 by 40 centimeter mark continues to
grow or disappears.

The stain on the Western Wall
may or may not be important in a prophetic
scheme of things. When Jesus Christ, the
Messiah, walked the earth, he foretold many
things to come, and promised to return to claim
His followers. The site we know as the Wailing
Wall reminds us of the truth of Jesus’ words
spoken 40 years before the Second Temple was
destroyed.
Matthew 24:1-2 NIV “Jesus
left the temple and was walking away when his
disciples came up to him to call his attention
to its buildings. ‘Do you see all these
things?’, he asked. ‘I tell you the truth, not
one stone here will be left on another; everyone
will be thrown down.’”
PROPHESY
I ran across a website the
other day that collected prophesies of various
prophets that the end of the world would occur
before the end of 2001. Obviously, the prophets
were wrong. One prediction set the date for
January 31, 2001 and was based on a scroll
purported to have been found in Noah's
ark.
Another prediction said the
Great Tribulations would start April 7, 2001 and
culminate on April 8, 2008. Another prophet said
Jesus would return to earth on July 7, 2001,
another one said the rapture would definitely
take place in 2001, probably on Nov. 21. Nov. 21
was a popular date, because another prophet said
that an asteroid would destroy Los Angeles on
that date and that the Antichrist, who would go
by the name, King David, would appear sometime
during 2001. Still another prophet predicted
that Armageddon would start on December 12, 2001
because China & Iraq would join together to
attack Israel.

PROPHECY
I ran across a website the
other day that collected prognostications of
various prophets that the end of the world would
occur before the end of 2006. Below are excerpts
from their compilations:
James Kingsley predicted a
major "Earthquake Storm" near Los Angeles, CA.
It was to start shortly after midnight of JAN
25, last for 2 hours, and be centered in Redondo
Beach. The individual quakes range in magnitude
from 7.1 to 7.9, and will be called "The Big
One".
Eric Julien of the
Exopolitics Institute predicted that a remnant
from a comet would hit the Atlantic Ocean and
generate massive tsunami almost 200 meters (650
feet) in height on MAY 25th: He predicted that
there will be tens of millions of deaths.
Glenn Beck, anchor for CNN
Headline News, predicted on AUG 09 that
Armageddon would begin on AUG 22: "... is the
day that Israel might be wiped off the map,
leading to all-out Armageddon.... [It] could be
the day that Agnostics get down on one knee and
start to pray, 'Sweet Jesus, are you coming
today'? "
The Lord's Witness and the
True Bible Code predicted that a nuclear bomb
will hit the UN plaza in Manhattan on the
Sabbath, sometime between sundown on SEP 08 and
sundown on SEP 09.
The House of Yahweh issued a
news release stating that nuclear war was to
begin on SEP 12. The war would start around the
Euphrates River.
Dr. Jose Luis de Jesus
Miranda predicted that Jesus Christ's second
coming would happen in Puerto Rico on DEC
17.

Hundreds of Jews from a group
of thousands in India claiming to be part of one
of the ten "lost tribes" of Israel has been
granted permission to immigrate, fulfilling what
many members of the group consider to be a dream
of returning to their homeland.
The Assyrian Empire exiled
the group when the northern kingdom of Israel
was conquered over 2700 years ago, in 722 BC.
They have been living in the Indian states of
Mizoram and Manipur, and continue to preserve
ancient Jewish customs and rituals.
The group known as Bnei
Menashe, believe they are descendants of
Manasseh, one of the Biblical patriarch Joseph's
two sons, and a grandson of Jacob. Six rabbis
visited the group and tested their knowledge of
Judaism and officially converted 216 people.
Once they were considered legally Jewish, the
tribe can apply for Israeli citizenship under
the country's "Law of Return" which guarantees
sanctuary to Jews from anywhere in the
world.
Michael Freund, chairman of
the organization leading the charge for the
tribe's return said the tribe's homecoming after
2700 years is a miracle of "biblical
proportions." Freund added, "It is the literal
fulfillment of the vision of our prophets that
our people will return to Israel from the four
corners of the earth. It is a timely and welcome
example of just what Israel and its wondrous
rebirth is truly all about."

Nearly one hundred years
ago, a well-known physicist envisioned a modern
invention, and predicted the device would usher
in a new era of technology. Speaking at a recent
meeting, Seth Porges, technology editor for
Popular Mechanics magazine revealed that Serbian
born physicist Nicola Tesla predicted the
invention of the Blackberry.
In a 1909 edition of the
magazine, Tesla said one day it would be
possible to transmit wireless messages all over
the world using a hand held device. He predicted
the device would be simple to use, and such a
device would allow everyone in the world to
communicate with their friends instantly. Tesla
believed such a device could open the doors for
a new age of technological advances.
Popular mechanics was first
published in 1902, and has been trying to
imagine how the future world would look since it
was introduced. Porges said many other ideas
never came to fruition such as personal
helicopters, and flying cars, but Tesla
envisioned other technology that is being
explored. Porges said, “He talked a lot about
his other great passion, which was wireless
power. It has taken a little longer to get off
the ground, but work on fascinating wireless
conductive transmission is going on right now in
research centers at MIT and Intel and other
places.”

Sometimes men predict what
the future holds, when Jesus tells us what he is
going to do, we can trust Him.
John 14:1-3 (GW) “Don't be
troubled. Believe in God, and believe in
me. (2) My Father's house has many
rooms. If that were not true, would I have told
you that I'm going to prepare a place for
you? (3) If I go to prepare a place
for you, I will come again. Then I will bring
you into my presence so that you will be where I
am.

For 20 years, from 1985 until 2005, Philip
Tetlock, a University of California
psychologist, kept track of the accuracy of
hundreds of so-called experts on world affairs.
He reported his findings in a book, Expert
Political Judgment: How good is it? How can we
know? (Princeton University Press His ultimate
answer was “Not too good.”
When the results were in, "the vast majority of
experts 'performed worse than random chance,'
with an accuracy rate below 50 percent."

God set high standards for his prophets. 65% or
even 95% was not good enough. Being closer to
accurate than any other prophet was not
sufficient. To be a prophet of God took 100%
accuracy, 100% of the time.
Deuteronomy 18:22 (NIV) If what a prophet
proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take
place or come true, that is a message the LORD
has not spoken. That prophet has spoken
presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

The day before Super Bowl XLVI, many New York
residents were wondering, what the New York
Giants knew that no one else did. For a short
time on Saturday, February 4th, 2012, the New
York Giants site contained the message that the
Giant were the Super Bowl Champions. Ads on the
page offered shoppers the opportunity to get
official Championship, and add the team’s image
to their Face book and Twitter pages.
Officials with the NFL said it is common
practice for teams to prepare web graphics in
advance, so they can go right up win the team
wins a conference or world championship. They
speculated someone with the Giant’s organization
was looking for the back door, and accidentally
posted the trial page in the wrong place. The
premature page was taken down quickly. After the
outcome of Sunday’s game, several people
wondered if the NFL or teams knew something in
advance. The NFL played down the speculation in
their official statement. They said, “It is
common practice for both teams to create web
pages in advance of the conference championship
games and Super Bowl. In this case, the hidden
URL for the page was inadvertently available for
a brief period of time while it was being
positioned on the NFL server for possible post
tomorrow night.”

PROPHECY
There are numerous warnings in the Bible about
false prophets who make bold proclamations that
later prove not to be true. Over the years, many
people have made predictions about the Internet
which plays such a big role in modern life. Not
all of these predictions were correct; in fact,
some of them were way off the mark. In March
1989, a British scientist published a paper
proposing what he called an “information
management system” which would improve the
sharing of information between researchers
around the world. The proposal paved the way for
the World Wide Web we know today. The odd things
is that the scientist’s supervisor read the
paper, and wrote “Vague, but exciting” on the
cover. That supervisor could not have been more
wrong. Other wrong predictions included Bill
Gates’ proclamation in 2004 that spam would be
eliminated within two years, Newsweek’s
prediction that websites would never replace
newspapers made in 1995, and two other 1995
predictions that the internet would never be
able to handle very much traffic and that the
web would spell the end of spying and control of
information. The same year, Newsweek also
predicted that no one would ever buy anything
over the Internet due to a lack of salespeople.
Even though, each of the predictions was made in
good faith, all of them proved that no one
really knows what the future holds.—Jim L.
Wilson and Jim Sandell.

PROPHECY
“We’re in a race against
time, with population growth outstripping our
ability to feed ourselves: If present trends
continue, expect at least 100 million people—per
year—to starve to death within the next two
decades. Within 15 years, the levels of nitrogen
buildup in the atmosphere will filter out half
the sunlight presently reaching Earth. Decaying
organic pollutants will suck up the oxygen in
America’s rivers, killing freshwater fish. . . .
Millions of city dwellers can expect to die in
smog disasters. If present trends continue, in
the next quarter-century average temperatures
will plunge to about twice what it takes to put
us into an ‘ice age.’”
These prophecies were the
headlines in the 1970’s. None of the doomsday
prophecies happened but that has not stopped
today’s seers from prophesying more end-time
scenarios. Perhaps we should quit listening to
the prophets who speak in the name of the
settled science. –Jim L. Wilson and Rodger

the Day of the Lord will come like a thief; on
that day the heavens will pass away with a loud
noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved,
and the earth and the works on it will be
disclosed. 11 Since all these things
are to be destroyed in this way, it is clear
what sort of people you should be in holy
conduct and godliness 12 as you wait
for and earnestly desire the coming of the day
of God. The heavens will be on fire and be
dissolved because of it, and the elements will
melt with the heat. 13 But based on
His promise, we wait for the new heavens and a
new earth, where righteousness will dwell.”

Another TV evangelist seems
to delight in making foolish and rash
