PEACEMAKERS
President George Bush had the opportunity to take on the
role of peacemaker when he hosted the Presidents of Pakistan and Afghanistan at
the White House. The two leaders stood stiffly on either side of the President
during a brief appearance in the Rose garden before dinner. For months they
have been trading criticisms regarding the others efforts to fight terrorists
along their long remote mountainous border.
President Bush said the dinner was a chance for them to
strategize and find common solutions. The President said, "These men are
personal friends of mine. They are strong leaders who have an understanding of
the world in which we live. They understand that the forces of moderation are
being challenged by extremists and radicals. "The President added,
"The countries need to cooperate "to make sure that people have got a
hopeful future."

Matthew 5:9 (MSG) "You're blessed when you can show
people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover
who you really are, and your place in God's family."
