MEDITATION
In the city of Cardiff, those who attend St John's
Rectory church don't have to pass notes during the sermon; they can send
an email. In an attempt to stay current, the church installed the wireless
Internet in their sanctuary so their worshippers can multi-task during
the sermon. Reverend Keith Kimber said, "The church has to move with the
times and I wanted to make St John's a sanctuary for everyone, including
business people with laptops and mobiles."
The greatest gift a church could give its people is
a quiet sanctuary, free from distractions, not a hip, up-to-date business
environment.

In Why Johnny Can’t Preach: The Media Have Shaped
the Messengers. T. David Gordon writes, “We are swamped by the inconsequential,
bombarded by images and sounds that rob us of the opportunity for reflection
and contemplation that are necessary to reacquaint ourselves with what
is significant.”

Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV) (1) Blessed is the man who does
not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or
sit in the seat of mockers. (2) But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night. (3) He is like a tree planted
by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does
not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
