KING OF KINGS

Polish lawmakers have drawn up a resolution naming Jesus Christ as the honorary King of Poland. Lawmakers from the ruling Law and Justice Party, the League of Polish families, and the Peasants Party all support the legislation, but the church in Poland does not support it. Lawmakers say the backing of the church in Poland is crucial to building support for the proposal.

A vote on the proposal is scheduled in January but since several bishops have criticized the plan, there may not be enough support in the parliament to pass the bill.

The Archbishop of Gdansk said, "Let the parliament deal with passing better laws that we need." Another Bishop added, "This kind of action, although it may stem from good will, sounds a bit like propaganda."
