JOINING GOD

Sources in the entertainment industry say actor Jim Carrey will star in a new movie called, “Bruce Almighty.” The premise of the movie revolves around Carrey’s character, Bruce—a television reporter who is constantly complaining about the way things are going in his life. Eventually God gets so exasperated that He responds in an unusual way. God gives Bruce the chance to run the universe for a day.

Despite the obvious theological problems, this sounds like an interesting premise. Believers do not have to feel detached from the things God is doing in the world. God doesn’t give people an opportunity to run the universe, but He does invite them to be part of what He is already doing.

Matthew 28:18-20 NIV “Then Jesus came to them and said, “ All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
