HOMOSEXUALITY/CONVICTION

Homosexuality appears to be sheik. It is in. Just about every sitcom on TV has an obligatory homosexual character who is just a bit more intelligent and “with it” than the heterosexuals in the cast of characters. The basic plot line has gone beyond asking for basic acceptance to parading superiority. The “Fab Five” (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) make over straight guys so they can get the job/girl or obtain greater overall success. Again, the gay men are wise sages that can “fix” a man’s problems that arise out of being straight.

In the midst of a cultural bombardment from the media, gay activists are asking the government to legalize same sex marriage. To that plea, President George W. Bush responded, “I think it's very important for our society to respect each individual, to welcome those with good hearts, to be a welcoming country,” Bush added. “On the other hand, that does not mean that somebody like me needs to compromise on an issue such as marriage.”

Respect doesn’t mean compromise. Yes, every person deserves respect, but that doesn’t mean a nation should disembowel itself of its moral convictions.

Psalm 94:16 NASB “Who will stand up for me against evildoers? Who will take his stand for me against those who do wickedness?”

HOMOSEXUALITY
A recent documentary produced by the BBC has homosexual journalist Simon Fanshawe asking, "Are we just swimming around in a sewer which we're just sort of saying is normal?"  He says, "What gay men have done is organize our identity around sex.  And that is corrosive.  And to make things worse, promiscuity has become the norm."

Ephesians 5:3-5 (NIV) 'But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.  4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.  5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person-such a man is an idolater-has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.'

HOMOSEXUALITY
One group in today’s culture that is not tolerated is those who are ex-homosexual. Former homosexual Christopher Doyle of Voice of the Voiceless told the crowd: “Anti-ex-gay extremists say that I do not exist—that we don’t exist.” When planning an evening reception they received enough email and phone threats from homosexual activists to postpone the event.
Those who are involved in Homosexuality are happy to see those who are like them, and disapprove of those who escape the lifestyle. --Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell.

Romans 2:29 (CEV) To be a real Jew you must obey the Law. True circumcision is something that happens deep in your heart, not something done to your body. And besides, you should want praise from God and not from humans.

HOMOSEXUALITY
Charlene Hios, executive director of Bridging the Gaps Ministries says, “ . . .I do believe a person can be in Christ and identify as gay, though one must eventually realize that homosexual behavior is inconsistent with a faithful relationship with Christ. . .It takes time to recognize parts of your life are sin. It is essential but it takes time to admit the sin and turn away from it and toward God.” –Jim L. Wilson

Leviticus 18:22 (NASB)  ~'You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.

HOMOSEXUALITY

In an interview on CNN with Piers Morgan, Morgan challenged Pastor Rick Warren’s stand on Gay marriage. Warren’s reply was one all Christians could take to heart. “I fear the disapproval of God more than I fear your disapproval or the disapproval of society.”    --Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 (ESV) (13) The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

HOMOSEXUALITY

The sexual promiscuity that has enveloped our culture has allowed the continued spread of sexually transmitted disease in the US. “In 2012, the rate of gonorrhea rose 4 percent, and the rate of primary and secondary syphilis rose 11 percent.” Health experts worry on two levels. Most of the cases occur in people under 25, and both gonorrhea and Chlamydia can cause infertility in women. The other worry is that “three out of four new cases of syphilis occur among homosexual men, raising their chances of transmitting HIV.”  --Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell

Romans 2:6-8 (ESV) (6) He will render to each one according to his works: (7) to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; (8) but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.

HOMOSEXUALITY

According to the National Health Interview Survey only 1.6 percent of Americans identify as Homosexual. 0.7 percent considers themselves to be bisexual. The National Health Interview Survey is the government’s premier tool for annually assessing American’s health and behaviors. They found that 96.6 percent of Americans label themselves as straight. --Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell

Romans 1:27 (NASB)  and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

HOMOSEXUALITY

In his book, Jesus Outside the Lines, Scott Sauls writes that he recently told a gay man, “to affirm his union with the love of his life would mean I’d have to deny the love of mine.”

Our relationship with Jesus Christ is so important to us we cannot give in to the temptation to compromise the word of God for contemporary fads. --Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell.

Rosaria Butterfield, author of The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert is a former lesbian whose book talks of her conversion. She says this about what happened to her. “I wasn’t converted out of homosexuality. I was converted out of unbelief.”

HOMOSEXUALITY

In a three-part essay on the website Stream.org, Joseph Sciambra tells of his journey into, through, and out of the gay lifestyle. He speaks of the childhood abuse that led him into same sex relationships and the discovery that led him out. The defining sentiment of his journey is this, “I’m Thankful ‘Born Gay’ Wasn’t Yet a Dogma When I Looked for Help.”

Many Christians believe they are being kind and tolerant of those who have same sex desires when they pronounce them as normal. Jesus showed compassion on those caught in sin, but He did not tell them, “I do not condemn you, go and live life as you please.” His parting comment was, “and sin no more.” Our message must be full of compassion and grace, as was the Lord’s, but we should also maintain the call for purity. —Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell
