A goat with a birthmark has
fans of the late racing star Dale Earnhardt
flocking to a farm 50 miles south of
Jacksonville, Florida. The attraction is a
nine-month-old Nubian goat that was born with
white markings, which resemble the number “3,”
the number on Dale Earnhardt’s racecar on her
right side.
The goat’s owner, Jerry
Pierson, says, “It’s weird. I’ve seen people
take pictures and get tears in their eyes.”

Grief can make people do
strange things, like see some sort of
significance in the birthmarks on a goat. It is
a powerful thing that helps people come to grips
with their loss. Without the Lord’s
intervention, our grief can quickly spiral
downward into despair.
Psalm 94:17-19 Unless the
Lord had helped me, I would soon have died. [18]
I cried out, "I'm slipping!" and your unfailing
love, O Lord, supported me. [19] When doubts
filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed
hope and cheer.
GRIEF
A man who lost
his wife and two children in Malaysia Airlines
Flight 370 is dealing with his grief by trying
to find out what happened to the aircraft.
Ghislain Wattrelos and other relatives of the
people aboard Flight 370 visited Madagascar to
ask residents of the coast to keep looking for
debris from the plane that might have drifted
across the Indian Ocean. Some debris found
along the shores of Africa has been identified
as being from the plane which is believed to
have crashed in the southern Indian Ocean.
Wattrelos said that trying to solve the
mystery helps his personal “recovery
process.”–Jim L. Wilson and Jim Sandell

GRIEF
Reflecting
on
the coronavirus pandemic, many health
experts are concerned about what might
become a pandemic of grief which will impact
mental and physical health for
years to come. One model estimated that
nearly 4000 children lost a parent to
COVID-19 and overall 5 million people may
be grieving loved ones lost because of the
virus. Dr. Kavita Patel said “Grief
can take many forms and it can be the loss
of a life but it can also be a loss
of the touch of a human. It can be the loss
of normal interactions in the
workplace or in a casual setting or jus the
inability to see or talk to
(people) in person.” Patel added “Loss has
occurred on so many levels that even
those who have not lost a loved one may be
experiencing grief and not even
recognize it.” –Jim L. Wilson and Jim
