GOD'S GLORY

New measurements by a team of Chinese researchers indicate Mount Everest may not be a tall as once thought. The last official estimate of the mountain's height was 8,848.13 meters, which dates back to 1975. The latest estimates are the most accurate taken. They revealed the highest peak in the world is only 8,844.43 meters above sea level; about 3.7 meters lower than the old figure.

The director of the bureau, Chen Bangzhu said the results do not necessarily mean Everest is shrinking. The height is lower because the team is using technology that is more advanced and they are getting results that are more accurate. The margin of error in the latest measurement was 0.21 meter. China says they will begin using the new figure immediately.

Micah 4:1-2 (CEV) "In the future, the mountain with the Lord's temple will be the highest of all. It will reach above the hills, and every nation will rush to it. [2] People of many nations will come and say, 'Let's go up to the mountain of the Lord God of Jacob and worship in his temple.' The Lord will teach us his Law from Jerusalem, and we will obey him."

GOD'S GLORY

While the media focuses on the runs, passes, and scoring of the game, the men in charge of leading their teams to Super Bowl XLI plan to share the most important things in their life, while in the spotlight.

Both Head Coach Tony Dungy of the Indianapolis Colts and Lovie Smith of the Chicago Bears give credit to God for their teams' victories in the conference championships January 21st. Both men are strong believers in Jesus Christ.

Lovie Smith is relatively new at being a head coach and has not had as many public opportunities to share his faith as Coach Dungy has. Smith told Chicago media he believes in Jesus Christ, listens to Christian music when driving his car, and does not smoke, drink or curse. Dungy said, "I'm so happy for Lovie who does things the right way, without cursing and shows things can be done differently." He added, "The Lord set this up in a way that no one would believe it. The Lord tested us a lot this year, but He set this up to get all the glory."

2 Corinthians 4:5-6 (CEV) "We are not preaching about ourselves. Our message is that Jesus Christ is Lord. He also sent us to be your servants. [6] The Scriptures say, 'God commanded light to shine in the dark.' Now God is shining in our hearts to let you know that his glory is seen in Jesus Christ."

GLORY OF GOD
In late June 2009, thousands of radio ham operators and amateur astronomers spent the weekend bouncing radio conversations off the Moon. The event commemorated the landing of Apollo 11, 40 years earlier. The event known as ‘Moonbounce’ was organized by science buffs in the United States and Australia, who hope the event may become a annual experience. Some of the participants used their own radio dishes, while most relied on borrowed equipment at facilities in Tasmania, and at Stanford University.
Event cofounder Robert Brand said since the moon does not orbit directly around the Earth’s equator, this weekend was the best to arrange to bounce signals to the other side of the planet. Participants said their conversations were clear and lengthy, but required extra patience because it takes 2.5 seconds for a signal to reach the moon, and another 2.5 seconds for the reply to return. Brand said, “The signals go up from these dishes in a tight beam to the Moon. They actually hit the ground and at an atomic level ‘shake’ all the atoms on the surface of the moon.” He added,” It is still taking place as we speak.”

The Lord put the Moon in just the right place to create the tides, as well as the cycle from new moon to full and back. The Lord made the Moon so constant; we can use it to communicate around the globe.

Psalm 74:16 CEV “You rule the day and the night, and you put the moon and the sun in place.”

GLORY

“Stanford University researchers have discovered that awe—as opposed to joy or other positive emotions—gives people the sense that time has slowed down. That feeling, in turn, has a major impact on ‘everyday decision making.’” The researchers say when the participants viewed a video of awe-inspiring scenes, such as waterfalls and breaching whales, they reported that the “small dose of awe” had given them a momentary boost in life satisfaction.”

Beyond the momentary boost, a believer’s awe inspired by the creation finds a place and a time to praise and worship the creator. --Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell

Psalm 8:1 (HCSB) “Yahweh, our Lord, how magnificent is Your name throughout the earth! You have covered the heavens with Your majesty.”

GODS GLORY

Jesse Emspak, writing for Life Science, said: “Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity has been proven right again — and this time, physicists have pinned down just how precise it is: Any deviations from his theory of general relativity are so small that they would change calculations by just one part in 10,000 to one part in 100,000.”—Jim L. Wilson

One part out of 10,000 is impressive. The only thing that would be more impressive is no variation.

James 1:17 (HCSB) Every generous act and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights; with Him there is no variation or shadow cast by turning.
