GOD'S CARE
New York City, often called 'The City That Never Sleeps,'
will darken the lights of the Manhattan skyline after midnight to help save
migrating birds. Civic leaders in New York reached a decision to turnoff the lights
of buildings above the 40th floor during the spring and fall migration season
to protect birds. Experts have calculated that more than 4,000 birds have been
killed or injured due to collisions with buildings since 1997.
New York City's Audubon Director, E.J. Adams said, "New
York City is this nexus of ancient migratory flyways, and the parks have become
these havens for these birds, but the buildings with their light draw birds to
them, sort of like moths to a flame." Officials expect at least 95 percent
of building owners to participate. Officials reassured those who lamented
dimming the famous skyline that it would only occur for a couple of months a
year and would save energy.

do not sow, or harvest, or gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father
feeds them. Aren't you more valuable than they are?"
