DARKNESS

A would-be burglar almost got caught with his hand literally in the cookie jar. An unidentified man slipped through Loretta Scott's open window around 1 o'clock in the morning. He apparently reached for a tall container in the dark room and opened the lid.

The thief did not know that he had grabbed a cookie jar with a recorded warning. The loud recording from the cookie jar said, "STOP! MOVE AWAY FROM THE COOKIE JAR!"

The noise woke Scott up and she went to the living room to see what was happening. By the time she arrived, the burglar was gone. All she saw was a white sneaker diving out the window.

In an interview later Scott said, "It wasn't funny at the time, but now it's hilarious."She said she originally thought that one of her children had gotten out of bed. She says the somewhat annoying cookie jar has earned a special place in her heart because of the foiled burglary. Scott said, "It's my guardian angel and I'm not getting rid of it."

Scott added the burglar would not have gotten anything out of the jar anyway because her daughters had eaten all of the cookies earlier that evening.

DARKNESS

Amy Winehouse sang brilliantly and became a raging success in 2006… one song she sang was Rehab, the words say, “I won’t go to rehab no no no no… I won’t go go go go…” Sadly, she lived out the message of that song and died of alcohol poisoning in 2011. She lived her last days in sorrowful and depressive darkness and never got any help. The darkness finally overpowered her.—Jim L. Wilson and David Mills

We are encouraged to walk in the light of God’s truths and face reality.

1 John 1:5–7 (HCSB) Now this is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in Him. 6 If we say, “We have fellowship with Him,” yet we walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
