ATONEMENT

In 1996, Surrey British Columbia teen Kerry-Jo Klingbeil was awarded the Medal of Bravery by Governor-General Romeo LeBlanc for pushing a friend out of the path of a tow-truck.

Kerry-Jo was 11, in 1995, when she pushed Amanda Horne, 7, out of the truck's path in Arthur, near Kitchener, Ontario. However, during the rescue attempt, Kerry-Jo was caught under the tractor-trailer's rear wheels and received serious head injuries.

The accident left Kerry-Jo seriously disfigured and mentally and physically disabled. Six years later, the 17-year-old's family sued the friend and her parents for millions of dollars.

The lawsuit, claimed the Hornes family failed to supervise Amanda properly, or to instruct her on how to cross a road safely. Further, the claim said Kerry-Jo was "compelled" to "rescue" Amanda. But Amanda's family disagree. They say Kerry-Jo was injured because of her own negligence and that she did not have to rescue Amanda.

"What anyone would say is: 'Look, there are significant implications for this girl, for her future,'" Allen Wynperle, the lawyer representing the Klingbeil family, said "Sometime she's going to have to take care of things in the future. I'm not sure she'll be able to do it without help."

Thankfully Jesus is a Savior without any regrets or second thoughts. He knew what he was getting into before he went to the cross and saw us as worth all of his suffering.

John 3:16 KJV "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Several Malaysian government ministers have accumulated a good number of summons and fines for traffic violations. One of them, Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak reportedly has 67 unpaid summonses over the past 6 years totaling $2,142 U.S. dollars. When reporters asked The Deputy Prime Minister about the tickets, he said he was unaware that tickets for offenses including speeding had been issued on his car. Najib said, "I'll settle it. But it wasn't me driving the car."

I don't know whether Razak was driving or not, I'm willing to take him at his word. This makes me believe he is a remarkable man. Most people wouldn't pay a fine for something someone else did; they'd fight it and prove their innocence. Perhaps Razak has more money than time and it is easier to just pay the fine.

But imagine if someone was will to pay for a crime that everyone knew they didn't commit, just so the guilty would go free? That would be more than remarkable, that would be divine.

1 Corinthians 6:20 (CEV) "God paid a great price for you. So use your body to honor God."

James Harrison, a 77-year-old Australian has the blood that saved the lives of 2.4 million new born babies. His blood contains a rare antibody capable of curing Rhesus disease, a severe form of anemia affecting babies whose blood type is incompatible with that of their mother. He has donated blood over 1000 times and has no thoughts of ever stopping.

While Harrison’s blood is capable of saving life, the blood of Jesus Christ is the only blood that can give forgiveness of sin thus providing eternal life. He only donated one time, but that was sufficient for all time. --Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell

1 John 1:7 (HCSB) But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

In Keene, N.H. Robin Hood is at work. A group of six people, calling themselves the Robin Hooders, have been shadowing city parking enforcement officers and feeding change into expired meters just before the officer has a chance to check. The city has filed a civil lawsuit against the group, which a lower court judge tossed. After the city appealed, the highest court in New Hampshire is set to hear the case.

Satan would like to appeal to a higher court. We are all guilty of more than a parking violation, but Jesus has paid our fees. Praise the name of Jesus! --Jim L. Wilson and Rodger Russell

1 John 2:2 (NKJV) “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”
